Issue #3

Happy New Year!  We hope this letter finds you well & warm.  Please do find some happiness somewhere some time this next year.  The last one sure had its moments, did it not?  We need not go into details but “Heads up full steam ahead.”

The TEAM is making plans for another fun year ahead.  Check out the schedule and see if you can make a few of the events.  There are a few additions to last years’ schedule.  Just keep checking the website and Facebook page for the latest info.

The TEAM finished their year W/ another GREAT Toy Run.  This year the weather even cooperated!  We never did a final tally but we’d venture a guess @ 15,000 +/- 1 or 2.  We put on a good show and had some fun doing it.  The Seattle Cossacks are a hard act to follow.  It did not get very good media coverage.  What the heck it’s only a bunch of Bikers giving the Salvation Army its BIGGEST donation of the year.  Who would want to hear about that??  The more things change……The more they stay the same.  Face it some things will never change.  Speaking of which, we had a shift in the Tenino Christmas Tree lighting.  It normally is the Friday before the Toy Run.  It was changed this year, due to stimulus money construction in Tenino.  It is our only night show but somebody has to get Santa to Tenino even if it was a week later.

The Cancer fight goes on and on.  Some have fought and won, some have fought and lost.  Some are fighting this nemesis as we speak.  The TEAM'S good friend Cody Bingham is fighting that fight.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.  Cody was instrumental in starting the annual Cancer Run every June.  This is our annual local benefit run, raising $$ and support for those so stricken. Now it is his turn.  Come join us on January 10th for a benefit for him & Patty.  Tenino Eagles @ Noon

The TEAM will start practicing again in late March.  The door is open for new or old members to join the fun.  This is the time to get in on a piece of the action.  Do you have what it takes?  Call or Email and come out to see what we are about.

The Do-Wa-Diddy is shaping up for another fun time.  Oh, the Beer, the Bikes, the Beer, the Babes, the Beer, the food, the Beer, and the entertainment.  Did we mention the Beer?

This copy of The TEAM Times is the last mass mail out.  Most everyone has access to the web.  We will be publishing our rattling's and posting our schedule there in the future.  We realize there will be a few who will still need a hard copy mailed.  Let us know who you are and we will make it happen.

Issue #2

Hello and how are ya??  Welllll….What can we say?  It’s better to be late, than sorry.  Good things just take time.  We wanted to get it right.  Here’s the “NEW” schedule for ’09.  It’s on the WEB as well.  The drill team site is a work in progress.  So bear with us it is getting better slowly.

We are trying to get our act together for this year.  But first some mid winter vacations had to be taken.  Scot & Tina, have been back to Maine at least once. The SUN seekers were off to other parts.  Jerry-Dave-Steve and their others went off to Cancun for a couple of weeks.  Meanwhile Chad & Cher went to Maui.  They got to see Blaine & Lynda Wiens, who retired there!  Blaine was one of the original members back in the 80s. (For those that don’t remember)  The weather was good, fun was to be had and a good time was enjoyed by all.

The New Year has started out a little upside down.  The weather – the Economy – the Jobs - Health etc, etc..

But there were a few hardy souls that ventured out for the First Run of the Year.  16 bikes 3 cars with 28 trying their luck on the poker run.  Chad did the “short route” and finished @ the Eagles in Centralia. The TEAM wants to thank those that came out plus all that helped @ ea stop.  Check the WEB site for more.

The TEAM is starting practice on Sat Mar 28, 11am under the tower @ Olympia airport.  The TEAM is getting ready for its 26th year!  We have been at this a long, long time.  We are bound to get it right sooner or later!!  We are having fun doing what we enjoy.  Looking back over the years we’ve had 52 try out for the TEAM.  Of which 13 are still active - 34 are retired/inactive – 5 practiced but did no shows (it is not for everyone).  We are sorry to say of the above 2 have passed on.  Maybe you would like a piece of the action??

The BEST and ONLY time to come out is in the Spring.  Practice – Practice – Practice, it does take some time to get the Hang of it.  We always have a place for new members and for the “Olde” members as well.  C U there.

Cancer is still a hard fight.  We all know of victims and survivors.  BIKER Hearts are big and warm and our pockets are deep.  The fight goes on and on.  The TEAM has enjoyed the Children’s Ride the last few years and has the Cancer Run in June.  Check your schedule.  There will be an additional and very special Benefit this year.  Our friend and fellow rider; Lora Reed has been fighting melanoma for nearly a year.  Her Friends the ‘Bikher Divas’ are planning a Benefit Poker Run/Bar-B-Que.  The Run will start & finish @ the Nisqually Pub.

Sat April 4, run starts @ 11am food @3pm or so.  The BIG GUYS BAR-B-QUE know how to do it, so come, work up an appetite.  This is a rain or shine event so no excuses……we will see you there.  Watch the WEB site

The TEAM has nearly 400 on our mailing list.  It would save us time and money if we had more Email addresses.  Then we could send them out that way instead of Bend - Fold - Staple and Mutilate ea one.  We’ve mentioned the WEB a couple of times now we need to use it!!  Send yours to the above Email address. Thanks.

Issue #1

Hello from the TEAM, and Happy Holidays to come.

Well we just did the “Hoquiam Loggers Playday” last Saturday.  The weather was great and 9 of us had a GREAT show.  Hoquiam has always been a favorite.  We have pretty much rapped up our busy part of our schedule.  We’ve all had some fun, because that is what it’s all about.

The TEAM was proud to present Shane & Syd their Drill Team Patches this spring.  Mark Hubbard is our rookie of the year.  Tracy B makes the shows he can between his work schedule. They are all an asset for the Team.  Gary Young & Brian Miller have taken their leave this year.  There is always a place for past performers of the team.  Spring is around the corner and we are always looking for new members.

How about the 25th DO-WA-DIDDY??  What can we say, except WOW!!  We ate the pig, drank the beer, played the rodeo, we showed our Bikes, we strutted our stuff, did the weenie bite, won some prizes, we camped out and rocked till the wee hours of the morn.  For the first time in recent memory we drank more beer than ever, 74 kegs to be exact.  Problem was we only put 70 in the truck!  Nothing like a midnight run for more kegs @ midnight.  Price will be the same next year $50.  Tickets are available @ ‘The Easter Beer Run” the Sat. before Easter.  We are making plans for next year are you??

The TEAM awarded seven $1000 Scholarships to Tenino students last June.  Hopefully this will help pave the way for their bright future.  This was our 6th year handing out scholarships to local area students.

On a more somber note; it seems as though Cancer has raised its ugly head and hit hard around the South Sound this year.  There are Gator, Deb, Lora, Margaret just to name a few.  Please join us and keep them all in your thoughts & prayers.  Here are some fliers about up coming and on going events.

More good news bad news; Roger Plante (one of the teams’ original members) has a new roof on his garage and a dandy ramp up to his front door.  This all came about after he fell off the roof and shattered his heels.  He also compressed L5 in his back.  There is nothing that a few months in a Wheelchair and some loving help from wife Debbie won’t fix.  There is an article in the Nisqually Valley News this week.

The TEAM Store is soon to go online.  We have t-shirts, Sweatshirts and Drill Team memorabilia.

Ride Free and we will catch you ……later.
